The House prosecution team in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte said it is prepared to defend the Senate impeachment court’s decision to issue subpoenas for her bank and tax records, as well as those of her husband, Atty. Manases “Mans” Carpio, should the defense team elevate the matter to the Supreme Court (SC).

House prosecutor and ML Party-list Representative Leila de Lima said they are not worried about a possible legal challenge from Duterte’s camp, noting that their side is ready to present its arguments through the Office of the Solicitor General, according to a report of RH Milky Rigonan on DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.

However, De Lima expressed confidence that any petition filed by the Vice President’s camp would face the same outcome as previous challenges brought before the high court.

She said the prosecution believes the impeachment court acted within its authority in ordering the release of the requested financial records as part of the proceedings.

The Senate impeachment court earlier approved the subpoenas covering Duterte’s bank and tax documents, along with Carpio’s records, as requested by the House prosecutors.
