A number of lawmakers have been appointed spokespersons for the 11-man House prosecution panel in the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte, according to a Monday report by RH Milky Rigonan.

Among them are Kabataan Party-list Rep. Renee Co, House Deputy Speaker Janette Garin, House Deputy Speaker Jay Khonghun, and Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong.

The lawmakers will be giving statements and reactions for the prosecution panel the moment the impeachment trial begins.

In addition, the House prosecution panel welcomed the Senate convening as an impeachment court.

According to House Prosecutor and Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon, the prosecution team will be following the Senate impeachment court’s orders and directives. He also assured that the prosecution is ready to present its evidence against Duterte.

On Monday, the Senate impeachment court summoned Vice President Duterte and ordered her to file an answer to the complaints lodged against her within 10 days.

Duterte’s defense team responded on the same day that it would comply and file an appropriate response.

“We note that the Senate has convened as an Impeachment Court and that summons will be issued in due course. We will comply and file the appropriate response in accordance with the Constitution and applicable rules,” the defense team said.
