Senator Risa Hontiveros has called for strict adherence to the rule of law following a recent announcement by the Department of Justice, stressing the importance of due process and institutional respect amid ongoing legal developments.

In a statement, Hontiveros emphasized that legal procedures must be followed and that no individual is above the law. “The rule of law should always prevail. Dapat manaig ang pagrespeto sa batas at prosesong legal,” she said.

She also reiterated her appeal to Senator Ronald dela Rosa, urging him to cooperate with authorities and respect lawful processes.

“Inuulit ko ang aming panawagan kay Senator Dela Rosa: Igalang ang batas, at mag-submit at makipagtulungan sa mga alagad at proseso ng batas,” Hontiveros stated.

The senator further expressed hope for a peaceful and lawful resolution to the situation, noting its broader impact on national institutions and public trust.

“I pray for the peaceful and lawful resolution of this situation, which has already affected multiple institutions and the entire country itself. May justice be served,” she added.

Meanwhile, developments linked to the case intensified after reports that the government has authorized enforcement actions related to an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant involving dela Rosa.

According to recent reports, both the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police have been directed to assist in implementing the warrant in coordination with international mechanisms.

Justice officials have previously emphasized that Philippine law enforcement agencies may act in accordance with legal procedures and international coordination frameworks, including Interpol channels, as part of ongoing enforcement efforts tied to the ICC directive.
