Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Nicolas Torre III has filed for a one-month leave starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, following the revocation of the driver’s license of the driver of his vehicle after it was caught using the EDSA Busway.

According to a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, MMDA Chairman Romando “Don” Artes confirmed Torre’s leave to DZRH.

Earlier, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) revoked the driver’s license of Torres’ driver after the vehicle was seen traveling along the EDSA Busway, which is restricted to authorized public utility buses and other permitted vehicles.

The LTO said the vehicle was also allegedly using a license plate assigned to another vehicle and had unauthorized MMDA markings and equipment attached to it.

According to the LTO, the SUV was privately registered and the plate attached to it did not match its records.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said he would be fair in handling Torre’s case after the vehicle was caught on camera using the EDSA Busway while bearing MMDA decals and a transferred plate.

Lacanilao said the agency would follow the appropriate process in determining the violations and corresponding penalties.
