Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz has been named one of the official judges for the second edition of Miss Grand International (MGI) All Stars, adding another prestigious name to the competition's judging panel.
The announcement was made through a video posted on the pageant's official social media accounts, highlighting Diaz's legacy as the first Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown and her successful career as an award-winning actress.
“An icon across generations. From beauty queen to award-winning actress. In 1969, the first Filipina Miss Universe, Gloria Diaz. A timeless legacy lives on,” the organization stated in its announcement.
The appointment has drawn excitement among Filipino pageant fans, particularly as another Filipina representative, Kapuso beauty queen Michelle Dee, is set to compete in the upcoming edition.
Diaz made history on July 19, 1969, when she was crowned Miss Universe in Miami Beach, Florida, becoming the first Filipina to win the international title. She later established herself as an accomplished actress and television personality.
So far, three Filipinas have been confirmed for the second edition of MGI All Stars: Alexie Brooks, Anne Patricia Lorenzo Diaz, and Michelle Marquez Dee. Brooks and Lorenzo Diaz previously earned their spots through Reina Filipinas—Grand All Stars, while Dee was announced separately as one of the competition's international delegates, bringing the Philippine contingent to three representatives.
MGI All Stars announced its second edition in June following the success of its inaugural competition, which was held in Thailand on May 30. Colombia's Vanessa Pulgarin emerged as the first edition's winner.
The competition provides another opportunity for beauty queens who have previously competed on international stages but have yet to capture a crown.
The coronation night of MGI All Stars 2nd Edition is scheduled for December 12, 2026.
