Fugitive businessman Charlie 'Atong' Ang was reportedly seen in Cavite last April, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Friday.

Speaking at the Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel forum, Remulla disclosed the information at the Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel forum, saying authorities had confirmed Ang’s presence in the country and monitored his last known location in Cavite about a month ago.

“He’s here in the Philippines, for sure. Last sighting sa kanya (of him), Cavite one month ago,” Remulla said.

The DILG chief added that law enforcement teams moved quickly after receiving intelligence about Ang’s whereabouts. However, the businessman had already left by the time authorities arrived.

According to Remulla, around 300 personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) were involved in the operation. He also cited evidence that Ang had only recently vacated the location, saying food was still on the table when operatives entered the premises.

“Agad-agad nag-organize kami ng strike team kung nasaan siya. Pagdating namin, nakaalis na,” he said.

“We acted very fast, as fast as we could,” Remulla said.

Remulla emphasized that authorities remain determined to apprehend Ang and will continue efforts to locate him.

Ang is currently wanted for kidnapping charges in connection with the alleged abduction and killing of at least 34 cockfighting enthusiasts, or “sabungeros,” across Luzon between 2021 and 2022.

Ang is currently the only fugitive among 20 individuals charged in connection with the case. Authorities have placed a ₱20 million bounty for information leading to his arrest.
