The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has increased the reward for information that would lead to the capture of notorious gaming tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang to PHP 20 million.
The announcement was made by DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla during a press conference on Thursday, February 12.
“We are increasing the bounty for Atong Ang to 20 million pesos for information leading to his arrest. We are serious about this,” Remulla said.
He added that the funds for the reward were sourced from confidential funds allocated to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the DILG for high-profile cases.
“This is real. We will pay the reward once we receive credible information that leads to his capture,” he stressed.
Atong Ang has long been sought in connection with multiple gaming-related violations, including illegal online gambling operations. Authorities have been pursuing the tycoon for several years due to allegations that his enterprises skirted licensing regulations and posed a threat to lawful gaming operations nationwide.
The P20 million reward underscores the government’s determination to bring Ang to justice and signals intensified coordination between the DILG, the PNP, and other law enforcement agencies. Officials urged the public to come forward with actionable intelligence while assuring full confidentiality for those providing tips.
This move comes amid a broader crackdown on illegal gambling in the Philippines, as the government ramps up efforts to regulate gaming activities, curb potential criminal networks, and protect citizens from illicit operations linked to high-profile figures.
