The Philippine Consulate General in Milan is urging Filipinos in Italy to exercise “extreme caution” following violent protests and clashes in several cities in northern Italy.

“In light of the recent violent protests and clashes in Milan, Bologna, Turin and Bergamo, we are asking everyone to please exercise extreme caution,” the consulate said in a statement.

It advised Filipinos to avoid large crowds, known protest areas and major city squares, especially in the evenings.

The consulate also called on members of the Filipino community to share the safety advisory with their respective groups.

“If you receive any information about Filipinos affected by, injured, or involved in the unrest, please notify the Consulate immediately so we can monitor the situation and provide the necessary assistance,” it said.

The demonstrations in Italy were reportedly held to protest wars and rising living costs.

In Milan, an initially peaceful march turned violent after masked protesters threw stones and other objects at riot police. Authorities responded by deploying water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Paris said Sunday that no Filipino nationals in France had been reported dead, injured or arrested in connection with nationwide protests in the country on Oct. 17, 2026.
