The Philippine Embassy in Paris said no Filipino nationals in France had been reported dead, injured or arrested in connection with the nationwide protests in the country on Oct. 17, 2026.

In an advisory on Sunday, Oct. 18, the embassy urged Filipinos in France to remain calm, avoid protest areas and large gatherings, and follow the instructions of local authorities amid the unrest.

“The Philippine Embassy in France assures the Filipino nation that there have been no reports of casualties, injuries, or arrests among Filipino nationals in connection with the nationwide protests on 17 October,” the embassy said.

The embassy urged Filipinos to take precautions, including prioritizing personal safety, remaining calm and apolitical, exercising caution on social media, and following local authorities’ instructions.

It also advised Filipinos to maintain communication with family members and seek assistance when necessary.

“The Embassy does not take sides in France's domestic political debates and encourages the Filipino community to remain focused on safety, mutual respect, and compliance with local laws,” it said.

The embassy further cautioned Filipinos against sharing unverified reports or inflammatory content on social media, urging them to verify information through reliable sources to avoid spreading panic and misinformation.

It also reminded the Filipino community to observe police directives, comply with public-order restrictions, and monitor official announcements on demonstrations, road closures and public transportation.

Filipinos were advised to keep their mobile phones charged, carry identification and essential contact information, and inform family members of their whereabouts when traveling. Parents and guardians were likewise urged to remind children and young adults to avoid potentially dangerous gathering places.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Milan issued a separate safety advisory for Filipinos in Italy following reports of violent protests and clashes in Milan, Bologna, Turin and Bergamo.

“In light of the recent violent protests and clashes in Milan, Bologna, Turin and Bergamo, we are asking everyone to please exercise extreme caution,” the consulate said.

It urged Filipinos to avoid large crowds, known protest areas and major city squares, particularly in the evenings.
