A woman accused of participating in the brutal killing of a policewoman and her 8-year-old child is set to undergo inquest proceedings this afternoon, authorities confirmed.
The suspect, identified as Maribel Suarez Panganiban, voluntarily surrendered earlier today to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and the Special Investigation Task Group formed to handle the high-profile case. Maribel is the sister of Christian Suarez Panganiban, a former police officer allegedly identified as the mastermind behind the crime.
Maribel, who reportedly assisted her brother in the planning and execution of the attack, is facing charges of robbery with double homicide and theft, similar to those filed against her brother and his wife, who is reportedly a car agent. Authorities allege that the attack was premeditated, with the suspects targeting the victims’ residence for robbery.
Police officials said the investigation is nearly complete, with evidence and witness accounts already documented. However, both the QCPD and the Special Task Group remain cautious in releasing full details, citing the sensitivity of the case.
The suspects are expected to be formally presented in a press conference tomorrow, led by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla, where authorities are likely to reveal more information on the suspects’ roles, motives, and the progress of the ongoing investigation.
This case has drawn public attention due to the shocking nature of the crime and the alleged involvement of a former police officer, raising concerns about criminal networks and accountability within law enforcement.
