The Regional Special Operations Group of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has arrested former Dingras, Ilocos Norte mayor Marynette Gambo over murder charges in Laguna on Saturday, Sept. 30.
The law enforcers arrested Gamboa inside a resort in Calamba City through an arrest warrant issued by Batac City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 17 Presiding Judge Feliz Gabrial Salvador in July 2022.
She was accused as the alleged mastermind in the killing Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative President Lorenzo Rey Ruiz, Dingras mayor-elect Jeffrey Saguid, and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Robert Castro back in 2009.
She is now placed under the custody of the NCRPO-Regional Special Operations Group.
According to NCRPO Director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the former Dingras mayor was arrested in May 2019, but was released after filing a motion to reconsider her case.
In 2022, Gamboa’s motion was rejected, and Judge Salvador issued another warrant of arrest for her.
