Animo! Actor Epy Quizon graduated from De La Salle University (DLSU), he announced on Tuesday, a “promise kept” after thirty years.

Quizon shared in an Instagram post that he was “just a thesis away from graduation” when he was discouraged by “fear and circumstance” in 1996.

“But you made a promise,” he said in a letter to himself. “Through work, loss, responsibility, and time, that promise stayed quietly in your heart. Dad didn’t get to see this day. Mama, turning 80 soon, will.”

In another post, he said that he was able to honor his father, acclaimed comedian and actor Dolphy’s memory and gave his mother, actress Pamela Ponti, the “gift of completion”.

Moreover, the 53-year-old actor said this achievement was proof of his conviction that a vow is sacred, regardless of how long its fulfillment is delayed. He added that it is never too late to finish what one has begun.

“This diploma is more than paper. It is integrity made visible. It is endurance framed on a wall. It is the legacy you leave (to) children and that it is never too late to finish what you start, never too late to rise again, never too late to become the person you once promised to be,” he said.

Quizon has taken on the role of Marcus in the stage adaptation of the 2022 film “About Us but Not About Us,” alongside stars Elijah Canlas, Romnick Sarmenta and Andoy Ranay.

The play runs until March 8 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Makati.
