Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is set to compete in the 2026 Mubadala DC Open, organizers confirmed, as the tournament runs from July 25 to Aug. 2 at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington, D.C.
The event is a combined WTA 500 and ATP 500 tournament, serving as a key stop in the North American hardcourt swing leading up to the US Open.
Eala’s inclusion underscores her packed summer schedule following her recent campaign at Wimbledon.
Tournament organizers said this year’s field will feature elite competition, including five Top 10 players, 15 Top 20 players, four Grand Slam champions and three former world No. 1s, with more wildcard entries still to be announced.
Eala heads into the Washington tournament riding momentum from her breakthrough performance at Wimbledon, where she secured her first main-draw victory.
The 21-year-old Filipina defeated Mexico’s Renata Zarazua, ranked No. 75 in the world, in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
She advanced to the second round and is set for a rematch against world No. 45 Maya Joint.
