The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association announced Thursday that Luka Doncic and Cade Cunningham are eligible for postseason awards after winning appeals tied to the league’s 65-game minimum rule.

Both players filed “extraordinary circumstances” challenges after appearing in 64 games each—one short of the threshold required for honors such as Most Valuable Player and All-NBA selection.

An independent arbitrator ruled in favor of Doncic and Cunningham, citing the totality of their situations. A similar appeal from Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves was denied; Edwards played 60 games and remains ineligible for awards consideration.

Doncic missed two December games while traveling to Slovenia for the birth of his daughter and later sat out the final five games of the regular season due to a hamstring strain.

In a statement, the Los Angeles Lakers star thanked the league and union for the decision, calling it important that he was present for his child’s birth.

Cunningham, of the Detroit Pistons, missed 11 games from mid-March to early April with a collapsed lung.

Doncic is considered a leading MVP candidate after averaging a league-high 33.5 points, along with 8.3 assists and 7.7 rebounds.

Cunningham averaged 23.9 points, a career-best 9.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds, and is widely expected to earn All-NBA consideration.

Edwards averaged a career-high 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists but will not be eligible for postseason honors under the rule.
