The Department of Justice (DOJ) has asked lawyer Atty. Jimmy Bondoc to submit any information he may have regarding the whereabouts of Sen. Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa, following his public claim that he allegedly knows the senator’s location amid questions tied to an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.
DOJ Secretary Fredderick Vida said the department issued a formal letter request to Bondoc, urging him to cooperate with authorities and turn over any details that could help locate the senator.
“To Atty. Jimmy Bondoc, with respect to his public representation that he allegedly knows the whereabouts of Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa, I have directed the issuance of a formal letter request asking him to provide the department with any information in his possession or available to him regarding the whereabouts or information leading to the location of Senator dela Rosa,” Vida said in a press conference on Tuesday, May 26.
“This is an opportunity for Atty. Bondoc to cooperate with legal processes and assist law enforcement authorities in the proper service of the ICC warrant,” he added.
Vida also said the DOJ’s special panel of prosecutors has issued a subpoena to the Office of the Senate Secretary, directing it to produce documents relevant to an ongoing fact-finding investigation linked to the same matter.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said there is no record showing that dela Rosa has left the Philippines, despite public speculation about his movements.
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said in an interview that based on official monitoring systems, no recent departure record for the senator has been found.
The developments come amid continuing inquiries into the senator’s whereabouts following incidents at the Senate between May 11 and May 14.
