More government officials are expected to receive subpoenas in connection with an ongoing investigation, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Monday, May 11.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said additional names will be included as authorities expand their probe, though he declined to identify them.

“Hindi ko muna ipapangalan. We will start with the tip of the sphere tapos we will go down further,” Remulla said during a press conference.

When asked if both current and former officials are among those to be subpoenaed, Remulla confirmed they will be included in the process.

“Yes, they will follow,” he said.

Remulla’s confirmation follows the subpoena issued by the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to Sen. Ronald dela Rosa which has already been served.

“Yes, it has been served in his office and his residence,” Remulla said.

Dela Rosa was ordered to appear before CIDG investigators on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Camp BGen. Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City. He is expected to answer questions, execute a sworn statement, and submit documents related to an investigation into alleged extrajudicial killings during the Duterte administration.

Asked about possible consequences if the senator fails to appear, Remulla said the subpoena includes provisions for contempt.

“Yes, direct contempt,” he said.

Pressed on why Dela Rosa could face compulsion under CIDG proceedings when senators are not strictly required to attend Senate inquiries, Remulla drew a distinction between the two processes.

“Sa Senado, it's an obligation but not compulsory. Pwede silang mag-lead, pwedeng hindi pumasok. Discretion na nila yon. But this is a direct subpoena sa kanya,” he said.

Authorities have not yet disclosed how many officials may be included in the next wave of subpoenas as the investigation continues.
