The De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute is mourning the death of one of its students, as authorities clarified that the incident is not connected to a reported mass shooting circulating on social media.
In a statement posted Thursday, the institute said, “De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute mourns the loss of one of our students and extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, loved ones, and all who are grieving.”
The school appealed for privacy, saying, “no further details will be made public” in respect of the family’s wishes, and urged the public to refrain from sharing or circulating unverified information about the incident.
The Dasmariñas Component City Police Station separately debunked reports of an alleged mass shooting, saying its Investigation Section found no factual basis to substantiate the claim. Police also clarified that the discovery of a deceased person inside a vehicle on the evening of September 30 within the school premises in Barangay Burol Main was a separate incident.
Authorities urged the public to rely only on official and verified information and warned that deliberately spreading false or misleading reports may result in legal action.
