A criminology intern from the Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) has apologized to the public after his photo showing him riding a motorcycle without a helmet went viral on social media.
The student also urged fellow criminology students to obey the law and practice discipline, regardless of whether anyone is watching.
He made the appeal after being presented by National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Commissioner Ralph Calinisan during a press conference on Monday, October 26.
Asked by Calinisan whether he regretted his actions, the student admitted his mistake and called on fellow students, particularly those who refuse to follow rules, to change their behavior.
“Nagsisisi po ako, sir, yes po,” the student said.
He urged his fellow students to start correcting themselves and follow the law both inside and outside their homes, whether or not other people are watching.
“Sumunod kayo sa batas at disiplinahin ang sarili. Kahit walang nakakita o may nakakita man, mula sa loob ng bahay hanggang paglabas, ayusin niyo ang sarili niyo,” he said.
The intern also acknowledged the possible consequences of his actions, saying he deeply feared that his mistake could jeopardize his future career.
“Kaya maging lesson ito sa mga kapwa ko, estudyante, na huwag niyo nang balakin na gumawa ng mali kahit may nakakita o wala nakakita,” he added.
He urged fellow criminology students to treat the incident as a lesson and begin practicing discipline and accountability in their daily lives.
