

Classes at Ateneo de Zamboanga University were suspended Tuesday following a shooting incident at the school's Junior High School campus that left two people dead and nine others injured.
Zamboanga Mayor Khymer Olazo announced the suspension of classes at the university on Aug. 18, following the reported shooting inside the school.
The university's Student Body Government also informed students that classes across all year levels had been suspended for the day.
“Please be informed that classes across all year levels at Ateneo de Zamboanga University are suspended today,” the student government said in a statement.
It also urged students and the public to refrain from sharing or circulating unverified information about the incident and to rely only on official announcements and verified sources.
In a separate announcement, the University President extended the class suspension on Wednesday, Aug. 19 "to allow sufficient time to attend to the safety and well-being of our students and personnel".
Authorities were responding to the incident and coordinating with school officials and other agencies as the investigation continued.
The university urged students to remain safe while authorities worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
