The General Santos City local government on Thursday, October 8, suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels after a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
In a public advisory, the “LGU GenSan: TATAK Heneral” announced that all classes, both private and public, are suspended until further notice. Meanwhile, work in government offices is also suspended to give way for structural inspections and safety assessments.
“The public is advised to remain calm, stay alert for aftershocks, and follow official advisories,” the LGU said, adding that a memo will follow.
The earthquake that struck at 4:07 PM had a depth of 10 kilometers.
