The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) confirmed that Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa remains in the country, despite online reports claiming he has already left the Philippines following the issuance of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.

During a press briefing at Camp Crame, PNP-CIDG Director PMGen. Robert Alexander A. Morico II dismissed the circulating information, stressing that authorities continue to monitor the senator’s whereabouts.

“What I can say is he’s still in the country,” Morico said, adding that tracking teams remain on alert to ensure enforcement of the warrant.

Morico likened the situation to that of businessman Atong Ang, noting that both individuals are still believed to be within Philippine jurisdiction.

“Like Atong Ang, Senator Bato is still inside the country and we will be reinforcing… enforced that warrant of arrest,” he said.

The CIDG also confirmed that the PNP has already obtained a copy of the ICC arrest warrant, allowing law enforcement units to proceed with necessary preparations for possible enforcement.

PNP Chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. likewise confirmed in an earlier ambush interview that authorities are now in possession of the warrant and are coordinating steps for proper implementation.

The CIDG also confirmed that law enforcement units have already obtained a copy of the ICC arrest warrant, allowing preparations for possible enforcement operations in coordination with relevant agencies.

In a related development, Nartatez also confirmed that Dela Rosa previously asked about the possibility of being placed under Philippine National Police protective custody during a Senate meeting on May 13. The PNP chief clarified that while custody is possible, it would be treated as a form of surrender once an arrest warrant is enforced.

Authorities reiterated that any action to enforce the ICC warrant will strictly follow due process and established legal procedures.
