Akbayan Party-list Representative Perci Cendaña hit back at reports that Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy is considering filing libel and cyberlibel complaints against him, Senator Risa Hontiveros, and ML Party-list Representative Leila de Lima.
In a Facebook post, Cendaña said he had learned of the reported legal action and responded: “I’d rather be libelous than be a sex trafficker. Thank God, I’m not any of them.”
Cendaña clarified that the reported libel threat stemmed from his statements expressing belief in allegations made by Quiboloy’s alleged victims, including accusations of child molestation, pedophilia, and human trafficking.
He also reiterated his call for Quiboloy to be extradited to the United States to face the cases filed against him there.
“If seseryosohin nila ang banta nila sa amin nina Sen. Risa at Rep. Leila, wala pa ito sa kalingkingan ng mga pananakot at pandarahas na tinatanggap ng kanyang mga biktima at kanilang pamilya,” Cendaña said.
He urged Quiboloy to focus on facing his accusers in a US court, adding that he hopes the KOJC leader would eventually show remorse for what Cendaña described as his alleged “kahayupan at kasamaan.”
The reported legal threat against Cendaña, Hontiveros, and De Lima comes amid continuing legal proceedings involving Quiboloy and renewed calls for him to face charges in the United States.
