Carlos Edriel Yulo captured his second gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games on Friday, winning the men’s vault final at the Nagoya General Gymnasium in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Yulo topped the event with an average score of 14.599, posting 14.733 on his first vault and 14.466 on his second attempt.

The Filipino Olympic champion opened with a 14.733, built on a 5.6 difficulty score and 9.133 execution mark, before securing the gold with a 14.466 on his second vault, which carried a 5.2 difficulty and 9.266 execution score.

Iran’s Mahdi Olfati settled for silver with an average of 14.533, while Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Ki took bronze with 14.116.

Fellow Filipino gymnast Juancho Miguel Besana finished fifth with an average of 13.783 after scoring 13.766 and 13.800 on his two vaults.

The victory gave Yulo his second gold of the Games after he also ruled the men’s floor exercise.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, the Philippines climbed to 13th in the Asian Games medal tally with two golds, one silver and four bronze medals, according to the official Games website.
