Senator Bong Go has filed a resolution in the Senate honoring Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo for winning the gold medal in the men’s floor exercise at the 2026 Asian Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Zunyi, China.
Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Sports, said the measure aims to recognize Yulo’s latest international achievement and reaffirm the government’s support for Filipino athletes competing on the global stage.
“Patuloy na isinusulong ni Senator Bong Go ang pagbibigay ng suporta at pagkilala sa mga atletang Pilipino na patuloy na nagdadala ng karangalan sa ating bansa sa international stage,” Go's online statement said.
Yulo, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, clinched the floor exercise title on June 20 with a score of 14.700. His younger brother, Eldrew Yulo, also delivered a strong performance, securing the bronze medal with a score of 14.300 in the same event at the 13th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships.
The Yulo brothers are expected to lead the Philippine national men’s gymnastics team in the upcoming 20th Asian Games, according to Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion-Norton.
Go said `Yulo’s achievement underscores the importance of sustained government support for athletes who represent the country in international competitions.
