Double Olympic champion Carlos Yulo secured the gold medal in the floor exercise final at the 13th Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Senior Asian Championships on Saturday, while his younger brother Eldrew Yulo delivered a breakthrough performance to claim the bronze, marking a historic moment for Philippine gymnastics.
Carlos dominated the field with a winning score of 14.700, narrowly edging Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama, who settled for silver with 14.600. Eldrew followed with a strong 14.300 to complete the podium finish.
The result marked the first time the Yulo brothers shared a medal podium in a senior-level international competition, as well as their debut competing against each other at the senior Asian Championships.
Carlos is still set to compete in two more event finals on Sunday, while Eldrew is scheduled to participate in one additional apparatus final as the competition continues.
