Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa left the Senate past 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, according to a reliable source.
Dela Rosa reportedly exited the Senate complex around 2:30 a.m., hours after a lockdown was imposed following a reported shooting incident outside the chamber on Wednesday night, May 13.
The incident reportedly involved an undetermined number of armed individuals who allegedly attempted to enter the Senate building, triggering a brief exchange of gunfire and heightened security measures within the premises.
Dela Rosa had been staying inside the Senate since Monday under protective custody amid an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). He is facing charges linked to the controversial anti-drug campaign during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
The ICC is currently pursuing cases related to alleged human rights violations tied to the anti-drug operations carried out during Duterte’s presidency.
As of writing, Senate officials have not released any details.
