The Ateneo Blue Eagles leaned on a strong second-half surge and a breakout debut from Kieffer Alas to defeat the LPU Pirates, 71-63, in Game 2 of the NSAC 2026 College Basketball Campus Tour on Saturday at the RC Gym in San Beda University.
Alas delivered an impressive first outing for Ateneo, finishing with 21 points, four rebounds, and multiple three-pointers to power the Blue Eagles past a gritty Pirates side.
Ateneo established an early edge, closing the first quarter with a slim 16-13 lead before widening the gap to 36-30 at halftime. The Blue Eagles pulled away further in the third period, outscoring LPU to build a 57-44 cushion heading into the final frame.
Despite a late push from the Pirates, Ateneo held firm behind timely baskets and steady execution down the stretch to secure the eight-point victory.
The win marked a strong start for the Blue Eagles in the opening day of the NSAC 2026 tour, showcasing both their offensive rhythm and defensive composure.
With Alas setting the tone in his debut, Ateneo looks poised to be one of the teams to watch as the campus tour continues.
The LPU Pirates will next face the Benilde Blazers at the RC Gym on Sunday, April 12, while the Ateneo Blue Eagles will defend their home court against Benilde on Saturday, April 18 at the Blue Eagle Gym.
