Alex Eala and Shaira Rivera’s run in the women’s doubles event of the 2026 Asian Games came to an end Wednesday after a 7-5, 6-2 loss to China’s Jiang Xinyu and Yang Zhaoxuan.

The defeat followed Eala’s singles victory earlier in the day, where she dispatched Joanna Garland of Chinese Taipei, 7-5, 6-0.

The Philippines also lost its other women’s doubles team as Tenny Madis and Steffi Aludo were beaten by Chinese Taipei’s Chan Hao-ching and Wu Fang-Hsien, 6-3, 6-1, in the second round.

With both pairs eliminated, Eala’s singles campaign remains the Philippines’ remaining women’s tennis medal bid in the competition.
