Filipino-American beauty queen Asia Rose Simpson concluded her Miss World 2026 campaign with a Top 12 finish, falling short of advancing to the Top 6 during the coronation night held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on Saturday, September 5.
Simpson, who represented the Philippines in the 75th anniversary edition of the Miss World pageant, delivered a strong showing throughout the competition, which featured 111 candidates from around the world.
Before the Top 6 announcement, Simpson took part in the final question-and-answer round, where she was asked what she wanted the world to understand about the diverse region she represented and how that value reflected the way she carried her title.
Drawing from her Filipino-American heritage, Simpson emphasized unity as the value she hoped to share with the world.
“We speak about diversity, and I am half Filipino, half American, so I know what it is like to represent two sides of a coin,” Simpson said.
She highlighted Filipinos' resilience and hospitality but said that, for her, the country's strongest defining trait is its love for family.
“The core of any family unit is unity,” she added, identifying unity as the Filipino value she would bring to the world.
Simpson's response concluded with a message of global solidarity, noting that Miss World had brought together 111 countries and describing the gathering as only the beginning of greater unity.
Beyond the competition stages, Simpson also made an impression through her final look for the pageant. The Miss World Philippines Organization shared a portrait of Simpson wearing a lotus-inspired creation by Filipino designer Ryan Ablaza Uson.
Dubbed “The Lotus Flower,” the gown drew inspiration from the lotus flower’s symbolism in Vietnam, representing beauty, purity, resilience and grace. More than a statement piece, the creation was designed to reflect Simpson’s own journey and qualities as a woman.
Simpson's Top 12 placement capped a campaign marked by several notable achievements. She won the Asia and Oceania leg of the Head-to-Head Challenge, securing an automatic place in the Top 40, before going on to win the overall Head-to-Head Challenge and earning a guaranteed spot in the Top 20.
The 18-year-old delegate also reached the Top 3 of the Talent competition, where she performed her original dance piece, “Succor,” inspired by themes of mental health and hope. She likewise advanced to the Top 24 in the Sports Challenge and reached the regional finals of the Top Model competition.
Her Beauty With a Purpose project, the SED (Sports and Dance) Initiative, was also recognized among the top projects in the Asia and Oceania region. The initiative promotes the physical, mental and emotional well-being of young people through sports and dance.
Despite missing the Top 6, Simpson's performance gave the Philippines another strong international pageant showing and placed her among the final 12 contenders of the historic 75th anniversary edition.
Simpson was aiming to bring the Philippines its second Miss World crown, following Megan Young's historic victory in 2013.
The Miss World crown ultimately went to Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic, while Elisabeth Reynés of Spain was named first runner-up and Taanusiya Chetty of Malaysia finished as second runner-up.
