The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed the arrest of businessman Aristotle Viray, another co-accused in the ₱75-million plunder case involving Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.

PNP Spokesperson PCol. Allen Rae Co said Viray was arrested following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sandiganbayan earlier today. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) also released Viray’s mugshot following the arrest.

Authorities did not immediately disclose the exact location and circumstances of Viray’s apprehension but confirmed that he is now in police custody.

The arrest comes after the Sandiganbayan ordered the detention of several respondents in the same case.

Marcoleta surrendered to authorities, while former congressman Mike Defensor and another co-accused were also arrested following the court’s warrant.

The case stems from alleged irregularities tied to a ₱75-million plunder complaint currently being heard by the anti-graft court.
