Angel Galang has issued a public apology following backlash over her remarks allegedly criticizing fellow drag performer Marina Summers and her hosting at the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 coronation night.
The controversy stemmed from now-deleted social media posts and Instagram Notes where Angel made comments perceived as insulting toward Marina’s hosting style. The remarks quickly drew criticism from netizens, drag fans, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
In a Facebook post, Angel admitted fault and took responsibility for her actions, saying: “Unang una sa lahat sorry mga alaga, award sena!! HARD loka!! Pero sorry I’m really really sorry hard especially to my sister, Marina. Na over express ako at I know na MALI TALAGA AKO. I want to take accountability and responsibility dito mga nak.”
She added that she is grateful to those who called her out, acknowledging the importance of accountability:
“Thank you talaga sa mga taong nag call out sakin para maging better person… Again, masaya ako para sa lahat ng achievements ng mga sisters ko TOTOONG BUHAY LANG!!”
Angel emphasized that there was no ill intent or bitterness behind her comments and reiterated her support for her fellow drag artists.
Her brother, drag performer and singer Maxie Andreison, also addressed the issue, saying he had reprimanded Angel and does not tolerate such behavior, stressing the importance of responsibility within the community.
Despite the apology, backlash has continued, leading to the cancellation of the “Doll Dominasian Australia Tour,” which was set to feature M1ss Jade So, Popstar Bench, and Angel. Organizers from Invasian Productions announced they are working to reschedule separate shows for M1ss Jade So and Popstar Bench with a new lineup.
Angel rose to prominence as a finalist on Drag Race Philippines Season 3, while Marina Summers gained international recognition after her standout performances on the franchise’s global stage, making her one of the most celebrated Filipino drag artists today.
