The Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) Organization has announced that global drag superstar Marina Summers will serve as host for the highly-anticipated Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Coronation Night on May 2 at 7:00 PM, set to take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
In an official statement, the pageant teased an “unforgettable evening” as it welcomed Summers to lead the program, signaling a bold and inclusive direction for this year’s competition.
The announcement has since generated excitement among pageant fans and the LGBTQ+ community, with many praising the move as a celebration of Filipino drag excellence on a major national stage.
In a social media post, Marina celebrated the milestone, saying, “We’re making herstory yet again… From being the first drag queen to perform on the Miss Universe stage, to becoming the first trans woman to host the pageant. So honored to be this year’s host.”
Her appointment marks a historic first for the national pageant, further highlighting its growing commitment to diversity and representation.
Marina rose to international prominence after finishing as runner-up on Drag Race Philippines and later becoming a finalist on RuPaul's Drag Race UK vs The World. Known for her charisma, wit, and commanding stage presence, she has become one of the most recognized Filipino drag artists globally.
This will not be Marina’s first appearance at the Miss Universe Philippines stage. In 2024, she delivered a standout performance of her single “AMAFILIPINA” during the pageant’s opening number, earning praise for her high-energy production and advocacy for Filipino pride.
Her hosting role this year underscores the evolving landscape of Philippine pageantry, blending tradition with modern entertainment and inclusivity.
As anticipation builds, organizers are expected to reveal more details about performers, judges, and special segments leading up to coronation night.
