Authorities have recovered another fatality from the site of the collapsed under-construction building in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga raising the death toll to seven as search and retrieval operations continue.

In a report from the Unified Command submitted to Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, the body of a male victim was extricated at around 7:50 a.m. on Saturday from Quadrant 2 of the debris field.

Responders from the search and retrieval team immediately turned the remains over to the City Health Office, where Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) protocols were strictly implemented, including tagging and documentation procedures to ensure proper identification.

Authorities said a vaccination card was also recovered near the site, bearing a name that may help establish the identity of the victim. However, officials emphasized that the information remains subject to verification and cannot yet be considered official until the full DVI process is completed.

Mayor Lazatin stated that recovery operations remain ongoing, with teams continuously conducting search, retrieval, and clearing activities across the collapsed structure. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of additional victims still trapped beneath the rubble.

The nine-story building which was still under construction, collapsed on May 24, trapping several workers and triggering a massive emergency response involving local and national rescue units.

City officials assured affected families that assistance and support services remain available as operations continue.
