Three residents sustained minor injuries in a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning, May 6, in a residential area in Barangay Manuyo Uno, Las Piñas City.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), two women aged 35 and 33, and a 53-year-old man were hurt in the incident.
The fire started at around 4:30 a.m. and quickly escalated to a second alarm before it was finally declared under control at 7:33 a.m.
In an interview with DZRH, Fire Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Sancha Andrade, operations chief of the Las Piñas BFP, said that approximately 10 houses were destroyed in the compound where the fire occurred.
Andrade noted that this was not the first time a fire broke out in the area.
She further admitted that BFP had difficulty accessing the site due to the narrow pathways leading into the compound.
“Medyo nahirapan lang tayo don sa makaacces pero nagawan naman natin ng paraan dahil naglagay tayo ng mga ladder para maaccess natin yung area dahil compound siya so medyo malalaki yung nas apaligid niya matataas kaya nagladder tayo. Okay naman kinaya namna ng mga bumbero,” Andrade explained.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, assess the extent of the damage, and identify the number of families affected.
Displaced residents are currently staying at the barangay's covered court.
