

Two low pressure areas (LPA) are being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the PAGASA said.
As of 8:00 AM on Monday, May 4, the state weather bureau announced that LPA 05a is “unlikely” to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. It was located at 1,350 km East of Northeastern Mindanao.
Meanwhile, LPA 05b has a “medium” potential to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. It was located at 2,870 km East of Northeastern Mindanao.
In an earlier update, the PAGASA said that one to two tropical cyclones may form within or enter the PAR in May. forecast data indicated that they are likely to originate over the Western Pacific and may track toward Eastern Visayas and parts of Luzon.
Should the two forecasted cyclones enter, they will be named “Caloy” and “Domeng.”
