Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri and all 30 members of his staff have tested negative for illegal drugs, according to a medical certificate issued by the Department of Health (DOH) National Reference Laboratory.
The certificate, dated August 18, confirmed that samples collected from the senator and his team showed no traces of methamphetamine, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cocaine, morphine, or ecstasy, all of which are among the most commonly abused illegal substances.
The test results were made public confirming that the entire office of Senator Zubiri had complied with voluntary drug testing protocols.

Senator Zubiri initiated the testing amid public scrutiny of alleged drug use within Senate premises. He earlier stated that the move was intended to set an example of transparency and accountability in government.
“Sabi ko nga, lead by example. Madami nagsasabi na may nagdo-droga dito sa Senado kaya [ang] sabi ko, dapat ako at staff ko ang unang magpa-test para sa pinagbabawal na gamot,” Zubiri said in a prior statement.
Zubiri is among the first senators to publicly disclose not just his own test results but also those of his entire staff.
In line with this, Senate leadership Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero has announced plans to resume mandatory random drug testing across the Senate in the 20th Congress.
