The Zamboanga City government expressed deep sadness over the shooting incident at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University high school campus on Tuesday morning, August 18, urging the public to remain calm and refrain from sharing unverified information, rumors, photographs, and videos as authorities continue their investigation.

The incident reportedly left two students dead, including the alleged shooter, while nine others were injured, according to Zamboanga City Local Government Unit Public Information Officer Sheila Cubarubias.

In a statement, the city government said it is closely coordinating with the university, the Zamboanga City Police Office, and other concerned authorities as the investigation continues.
