Two-time Olympic champion Carlos Yulo will lead the Philippine team at the 2026 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from Oct. 17 to 25, as he seeks to build on his recent success at the Asian Games.
Yulo is set to compete in all six men’s apparatus events, including vault, where he will defend his world title. He has won three gold medals at the World Championships.
The 26-year-old gymnast heads into the global competition after winning gold medals in floor exercise and vault at the Asian Games, repeating his double-gold performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Joining him in Rotterdam is younger brother Karl Eldrew Yulo, who earned a bronze medal in the horizontal bar at the Asian Games. The younger Yulo will make his presence felt alongside his more experienced sibling as the Philippines looks to strengthen its standing in international gymnastics.
Also representing the country are Juancho Miguel Besana, who placed fifth in the Asian Games vault final, and Haylee Garcia.
The Yulo brothers have been training in Europe ahead of the championships, where they will face some of the world’s top gymnasts.
Carlos Yulo will be aiming to add to his collection of world titles while maintaining his momentum toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Meanwhile, Karl Eldrew’s inclusion highlights the emergence of a younger generation of Filipino gymnasts looking to make their mark on the international stage.
