Various labor groups marched to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Central Office in Intramuros, Manila, on Friday morning, August 7 to call for the continued implementation of the ₱85 daily minimum wage increase in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The protest was led by the National Wage Coalition, All Workers Unity, Partido Manggagawa, and the Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), according to a report by RH Tina Nolasco.

The groups called on the government to junk the temporary restraining order (TRO) that suspended the implementation of the ₱85 wage increase in Metro Manila.

They also renewed their demand for a nationwide minimum wage of ₱1,200 per day and urged not only President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino to stand by the wage hike, but also private employers to comply with the wage order.

In an interview with DZRH News, Partido Manggagawa Chairperson Renato "Ka Rene" Magtubo also called on employer groups to support the implementation of the wage increase.

"Ako ay nanawagan sa mga employers, sila ay represented sa wage board. Dapat kondenahin din ng ng Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) ito ang kanilang mga miyembro na hindi sumusunod sa WAGE Board na kanilang kasama sa proseso at nilabas ng Regional Wage Board," Magtubo said.
