Women of Strength: Philippine female athletes shine at annual All-Women Sports Awards

Filipino women in sports once again proved their mettle, resilience, and excellence at the All-Women Sports Awards 2026, held on March 20 at the Philippine International Convention Center.

The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of Filipina athletes who continue to raise the bar and inspire future generations.

The ceremony was graced by Abraham Tolentino, President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, as Guest of Honor, who lauded the honorees for their contributions to Philippine sports.

The night recognized a diverse group of athletes, including:

  • The Philippine Women’s Freestyle Relay Team, celebrated for their teamwork and international performances.

  • Compound archer Amaya Paz Cojuangco, whose precision and dedication have earned her acclaim.

  • Badminton star Mikaela Joy De Guzman, a rising force in Philippine sports.

  • The Philippine Women’s Basketball Team, a symbol of grit and excellence on the court.

  • Aira Villegas, flyweight SEA Games medalist.

  • Tallulah Proulx, the first Filipina to qualify for the Winter Olympics.

The evening also highlighted remarkable performances by Paragames athletes, including Marlyn Garrucho and Jesebel Tordecilla, showcasing the indomitable spirit of Filipino para-athletes.

Excellence in coaching and leadership was also celebrated, with awards presented to the coaches who have anchored the country’s athletes including: Coach Julie Amos of Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Basketball Team, Bowling Coach Josephine Canare, recognized for her dedication to developing talent in Philippine bowling, among others.

The prestigious Flame Award also honored trailblazers in their respective sports such as Nesty Petecio in boxing, and Bianca Bustamante in motorsports, a rising international competitor.

The Philippine Women’s Football Team earned the Athletes of the Year accolade for their stellar performances on the field. In para-sports, Angel Otom was named Para Athlete of the Year, while Brenda Ramos-Zinampan received Masters Athlete of the Year recognition.

The event also acknowledged the role of mentorship and inspiration beyond competition, awarding First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos the title "Ina ng Atletang Pinay," for her support and advocacy for Filipino women athletes.
