The body of an unidentified woman was found floating in the Pasig River near the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) docking area in Muelle de Industria, Parola, San Nicolas, Manila, on Saturday morning, August 23.
According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the body was discovered by Reynaldo Sevilleno, a boat captain from Zamboanga del Norte. While on standby aboard his tugboat, Sevilleno noticed the body drifting in the river at around 11:30 a.m. and immediately reported it to personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
In a report by RH Boy Gonzales on DZRH's Diskarte, the PCG responders promptly arrived at the scene and retrieved the body from the water.
The MPD said its Homicide Section has been alerted and is conducting an investigation.
The remains were brought to a funeral home for examination and autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Police added that they will coordinate with barangay officials and nearby residents to gather information that could help identify the victim and determine if foul play was involved.
