by Luwela Amor02 January 2026

A woman was rescued after she allegedly attempted to jump from the 20th floor of a condominium building in Mandaluyong City shortly after the start of 2026, according to a report on dzRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas by RH Val Gonzales.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) commended personnel from the Mandaluyong Fire Department for their swift and courageous response that led to the successful rescue of the woman.

According to the BFP, firefighters from the Mandaluyong fire station were called to respond to an emergency situation just hours into the new year. Responding units immediately proceeded to the scene and were able to prevent the woman from jumping, ensuring her safety.

The BFP specifically recognized the bravery and presence of mind of Fire Officer 1 Patrick Sumagaysay and Fire Officer 2 Vincent Hamandon, who played key roles in assisting and securing the woman during the rescue operation.

After she was safely brought to the ground, the woman was turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) for proper handling and further assistance.

The PNP said the incident highlights the readiness and coordination of government responders in dealing with emergencies, particularly situations involving threats to life.

Meanwhile, the BFP reminded the public of the importance of mental health awareness.

The agency urged individuals who may be experiencing emotional distress to seek help and support from their families, friends, or mental health professionals, emphasizing that help is available and no one has to face such struggles alone.
