A 28-year-old woman was arrested after being caught on video allegedly assaulting the 3-year-old son of her female live-in partner inside a residential area in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City.

According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort on DZRH's Dos Por Dos, authorities said the incident occurred early Monday morning, May 18, in Sitio Bagong Pag-Asa, Barangay Western Bicutan, where a neighbor reportedly recorded the suspect repeatedly kicking and punching the child on the head while the boy cried and tried to shield himself.

The suspect, identified by police as “Carla,” allegedly turned violent following a domestic dispute with the child’s mother, who is her live-in partner. Witnesses said neighbors attempted to intervene during the altercation, but the suspect reportedly continued the assault.

The child sustained physical injuries and was brought to a hospital for treatment. He is now in stable condition and under the temporary custody of his uncle with assistance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Police from the Taguig City Police Station confirmed the arrest was made following a report and the circulation of the viral video showing the alleged abuse.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and is set for inquest proceedings before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities also said the child’s mother may face separate charges for alleged child neglect and abuse under the same law as the investigation continues.
