A woman was injured after being struck by a falling steel bar from a high-rise construction site in Binondo, Manila, authorities confirmed.

According to Barangay 289 Kagawad Nelson Ty, the victim remained conscious following the incident and was immediately rushed to the Metropolitan Medical Center for treatment.

CCTV footage reviewed by local officials showed the moment the long steel bar hit the victim while she was walking along Quintin Paredes corner Carvajal Street with a companion.

Initial investigation indicates that the steel bar likely fell from the 32nd floor of a building currently under construction in the area.

Ty noted that this was not the first reported incident involving the site, revealing that a vehicle had previously been struck by falling debris from the same construction project.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine accountability and ensure safety measures are enforced at the construction site.
