A former Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) manager on Wednesday described the process of releasing cash withdrawals in a bank “backroom” as part of the prosecution’s presentation of evidence in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Former LandBank Shaw Boulevard Branch manager Nenita Camposano testified during Day 10 of the proceedings, explaining how cash was released to a certain Edward Fajarda after the completion of the bank’s validation and approval procedures.
Camposano said Fajarda was brought to the backroom after the check was processed and approved, where the cash withdrawal was then released.
“Pagka po natapos na po ‘yung proseso namin ng pag-validate ng cheque at pag-approve, tatawagin na po namin si Mr. Fajarda sa backroom. Doon po ire-release na po ‘yung cash withdrawal,” Camposano said.
House Prosecutor Rep. Joel Chua asked Camposano who was present during the cash release inside the backroom.
“Doon sa backroom, sino-sino ang nandoon?” Chua asked.
Camposano responded that those present included herself, the bank teller responsible for releasing the money, the cashier, Fajarda, and one other companion.
“Ang nandun po ay ako, ‘yung teller na magre-release ng pera, ‘yung kahera, si Mr. Fajarda, pagkatapos may isa pa po siyang kasama,” she testified.
Camposano’s testimony formed part of the prosecution’s efforts to establish the procedures followed in processing and releasing large cash withdrawals connected to the confidential funds issue under Article I of the impeachment complaint against Vice President Duterte.
The Senate impeachment court is currently hearing evidence on allegations involving the alleged misuse of ₱612.5 million in confidential funds allocated to the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
