Senator-judge Erwin Tulfo on Friday questioned the other possible sources of income of CALE88, a company linked to Atty. Manases “Mans” Carpio, the husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, during the 37th day of the vice president’s impeachment trial.

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Office of the Commissioner chief of staff Anne Loraine Garcia-Marquez told Tulfo that BIR records showed CALE88 registered with the agency on Oct. 15, 2021, and was engaged in manufacturing and exporting food products, specifically banana chips.

Tulfo asked whether the company had other sources of income aside from export sales, citing its financial statements.

“Yun lang po yung nakalagay dito, Your Honor,” Marquez said when pressed on whether CALE88 had other sources of revenue.

Tulfo also sought details about the company’s income in 2021 and subsequent years, asking whether its records reflected earnings beyond banana chip exports.

During the questioning, Tulfo asked whether CALE88 was connected to “Carpio-Lebosada.” Marquez said she had no knowledge of such a connection.

Earlier, Marquez confirmed to Tulfo that, based on BIR Form 2316, Duterte received income from Davao City in 2023.
