Philippine Winter Olympian Tallulah Proulx capped her Alpine Skiing Slalom campaign with a 50th-place finish, leaving an impression as one of the most determined young athletes on the slopes.

In the two-run competition at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Center, Proulx started off 61st out of 84 competitors, trailing gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States by +15.80 seconds after the first run.

However, she pushed hard in the second run, climbing up to 50th place overall, outperforming athletes from Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia.

Proulx, 17, is now the youngest Filipino to ever compete in the Winter Olympics, making history not only for her age but also for her remarkable performance in a sport traditionally dominated by athletes from cold-climate nations.

Her journey was bolstered by teammate Francis Ceccarelli, who traveled five to six hours from Bormio’s Stelvio Ski Centre to cheer her on after the men’s competitions.

While Shiffrin claimed the gold, Proulx’s determination and resilience drew admiration from fans and fellow athletes alike. She has already pledged to return stronger, aiming to become the Philippines’ first-ever Winter Olympic medalist.

Ceccarelli, meanwhile, finished 54th in the men’s giant slalom but was unable to complete the course after a crash caused by a sudden snowstorm. Together, Proulx and Ceccarelli became the fifth and sixth skiers, respectively, to represent the Philippines in Olympic competition.

Despite the challenges, Proulx’s debut serves as a promising sign for the future of Filipino winter sports, proving that talent and determination can shine even in the world’s coldest arenas.
