The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) in Western Visayas destroyed more than 7,300 confiscated firecrackers and improvised cannons locally known as boga on December 27, 2025, as part of its intensified campaign to ensure public safety during the holiday season.

The destruction was carried out at Camp Delgado, Fort San Pedro, following the seizure of 7,336 illegal firecrackers and 81 boga valued at over ₱101,000 across Western Visayas.

The largest haul came from the Regional Support Unit 6, Iloilo City Police Office, and Iloilo Police Provincial Office.

Authorities said the seized items included dangerous and unlabeled firecrackers such as granada, kwitis, triangle, lolo thunder, and whistle bombs, which pose serious injury risks. PRO-6 stressed that the operation aims to prevent firecracker-related injuries, especially among children.
