‘We were not being untruthful’: Prosecution denies intent to mislead over cropped AMLC document

The House prosecution team firmly denied any intention to deceive the Senate sitting as an impeachment court after the defense panel questioned a presented document that appeared to be cropped during Monday’s proceedings, October 5.
Defense counsel Atty. Mark Vinluan raised an objection during the direct examination of Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) Executive Director Ronel Buenaventura.
Vinluan pointed out that the document displayed on the screen omitted the "strictly confidential" header on its first page compared to the original copy, claiming it appeared as though the prosecution was not being entirely truthful with the court.
Addressing the defense’s allegations, House private prosecutor Atty. Mae Divinagracia clarified that the omission was an honest oversight rather than a deliberate attempt to conceal details.
“We were not being untruthful, Your Honor. There was no attempt to mislead, neither to conceal,” Divinagracia asserted before the impeachment court.
Divinagracia explained that the missing header on the first page was due to "mere inadvertence," emphasizing that the "strictly confidential" marking remained clearly visible on the second page of the same document presented to the body.
