Several local government units have suspended classes on Wednesday, November 26, as Tropical Storm Verbena continues to affect large parts of the country with rains and strong winds.

Local government units announced the suspension of classes in the following areas:

ISABELA

  • Aurora – All levels, public and private

  • Benito Soliven – Suspension of face-to-face classes, all levels

  • Burgos – All levels, public and private

  • Cabatuan – All levels, public and private

  • Cauayan City – Suspension of face-to-face classes, all levels

  • Echague – All levels, public and private

  • Ilagan City – Preschool to secondary, public and private

  • Gamu – All levels, public and private

  • Luna – All levels, public and private

  • Mallig – All levels, public and private

  • Reina Mercedes – All levels, public and private

  • San Agustin – All levels, public and private

  • San Isidro – All levels, public and private

  • San Manuel – All levels, public and private

  • Tumauini – Suspension of face-to-face classes, all levels

ORIENTAL MINDORO

  • Province-wide – All levels, public and private

  • Bansud – Kinder to Grade 12, public and private

BICOL REGION

  • Tinambac, Camarines Sur – All levels

  • Capalonga – All levels

  • Talisay – All levels

  • San Vicente – All levels

  • Daet, Camarines Norte– Suspension of face-to-face classes, all levels

  • Labo – All levels

  • Tiwi, Albay – All levels

  • Sorsogon Province – All levels, public and private

ROMBLON

  • Odiongan – All levels

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed the following areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal:

TCWS No. 2

  • Calamian Islands

  • Extreme northern portion of mainland Palawan, including El Nido and Taytay

TCWS No. 1

  • Occidental Mindoro

  • Northern and central Palawan, covering Dumaran, Roxas, San Vicente, Puerto Princesa City, Cuyo Islands, and Kalayaan Islands

PAGASA reports that Verbena is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday morning. However, before exiting, the storm may still intensify into a severe tropical storm later this afternoon.

Residents in affected areas are urged to remain vigilant, follow local advisories, and monitor updates as weather conditions may still worsen in the coming hours.
